The Dublin Airport Authority Solar Farm project involves feasibility, planning and detailed design of a 9MWp solar PV site on an 11 hectare greenfield site within Dublin Airport Authority land directly adjacent to Dublin Airport to assist them reaching their sustainability objectives and decarbonizing their energy supply.

The works included the delivery of a Feasibility Report to ascertain the best technical and commercial solution and included civil, electrical, mechanical, solar PV, environmental and planning inputs. Nicholas O’Dwyer completed the detailed design and the tender documents to enable Dublin Airport procure an EPC Contractor for the works.

Additionally, Nicholas O’Dwyer managed a market sounding process to reach out to a range of suppliers to gauge information of capability, capacity, technology and also procurement expectations. The project also included a 5 km of high-voltage (HV) cabling through the airport campus (including airfield) to link plant to existing grid, complete with modelling and harmonics.

The successful delivery of this project will help Dublin Airport meet its commitment to reduce its direct emissions (Scopes 1 and 2) by 51% by 2030, which aligns with the public sector targets set as part of the national Climate Action Plan and ultimately towards achieving net zero carbon emissions by 2050 at the latest.
