Bruckana Wind Farm, together with its sister project Mount Lucas Wind Farm, are two of the largest individual windfarms on the island of Ireland. The total export capacity is 42MW provided by 14 No 3 MW wind turbines.

Nicholas O’Dwyer were civil and structural engineering consultants responsible for delivering this design and build contract.

The scope included;

  • detailed design of all wind farm access roads and surface water drainage system,
  • detailed design of up-grade works to public roads on approach routes to the wind farm,
  • detailed design of crane hardstands and all temporary works,
  • provision of topographical survey and coordination of additional site investigation testing,
  • review of environmental constraints as set down by the Project EIS,
  • full civil/structural detailed design of new 38kV sub-station for wind farm, and,
  • Auto Trak detailing for turbine delivery vehicles.

Throughout this project we used 3D civil engineering design software which allowed us to provide detailed road profile drawings, a variety of quantity call offs and specific setting-out data for direct use in GPS setting-out equipment.
