Nicholas O’Dwyer, an RSK company, is proud to announce its appointment to support the AECOM-Jacobs Joint Venture following its selection as Programme Delivery Partner for MetroLink, Ireland’s most significant transport infrastructure investment and one of the largest infrastructure programmes ever undertaken in the State.

As a long-established Irish engineering and infrastructure consultancy, Nicholas O’Dwyer will bring more than 90 years of local and international experience to support the successful delivery of MetroLink, working alongside global industry leaders AECOM, Jacobs and Ramboll to support Transport Infrastructure Ireland (TII) in delivering a project that will leave a lasting legacy for Dublin and Ireland. The appointment combines world-class programme delivery capability with deep Irish knowledge and experience, ensuring the project benefits from both international expertise and a strong understanding of Ireland’s infrastructure landscape.

MetroLink will create Ireland’s first fully automated metro system, connecting Swords, Dublin Airport, Dublin City Centre and Charlemont with a fast, reliable and sustainable public transport service. The project will transform connectivity across the Greater Dublin Area, supporting economic growth, enhancing quality of life and contributing to Ireland’s climate and sustainability goals.

Through its role on the Programme Delivery Partner team, Nicholas O’Dwyer will contribute expertise in transportation planning, programme management, major project delivery, stakeholder engagement and infrastructure advisory services. The company’s involvement reflects its longstanding commitment to supporting the delivery of critical national infrastructure and creating lasting value for communities we work in.

Combining Global Capability with Local Knowledge

Jim Oliver, Managing Director of Nicholas O’Dwyer, said the appointment reflects both the strength of the partnership and the importance of combining international expertise with local knowledge:

“We are immensely proud to be part of the team appointed to help deliver MetroLink, a project that will reshape how people move around Dublin and support Ireland’s future economic growth and sustainability ambitions.

This appointment reflects the strength of the partnership between AECOM, Jacobs, Ramboll and Nicholas O’Dwyer, bringing together international expertise and local knowledge to deliver one of the most significant infrastructure investments in the history of the State.

For Nicholas O’Dwyer, MetroLink represents an opportunity to contribute to a truly transformational project that will leave a lasting legacy for future generations while showcasing the capability of Irish engineering on the global stage.”

Ettienne Pople, Head of Transportation at Nicholas O’Dwyer, highlighted the transformative impact MetroLink will have on connectivity throughout the Greater Dublin Area:

“MetroLink is a once-in-a-generation transport investment that will fundamentally enhance connectivity across the Greater Dublin Area. Our transportation team is excited to contribute its expertise in programme delivery, stakeholder engagement and integrated transport infrastructure to support the successful implementation of this landmark scheme.

Working collaboratively with our partners, we look forward to helping deliver a safe, efficient and sustainable transport network that will benefit communities, businesses and visitors for decades to come.”

According to Martin Hickey, Deputy Head of Transportation and MetroLink Project Manager at Nicholas O’Dwyer, the project’s scale and strategic importance make it one of the most significant infrastructure programmes currently underway in Europe:

“Having supported the pursuit of this opportunity from its early stages, it is extremely rewarding to now move into programme delivery. MetroLink’s scale, complexity and strategic importance make it one of the most significant infrastructure projects currently underway in Europe. Our focus will be on helping establish a high-performing delivery organisation and ensuring that best practice in project management, programme controls and infrastructure delivery is embedded from the outset. We look forward to working closely with Transport Infrastructure Ireland and our delivery partners to help realise the vision for MetroLink.“

Building Ireland’s Transport Future

For Nicholas O’Dwyer, the MetroLink appointment represents more than participation in a major infrastructure programme. It is an opportunity to help deliver a transformational project that will shape how future generations live, work and travel across Dublin and beyond.
