The Saltholme Flexible Energy Project concerned a gas-fired peaking plant facility east of Cowpen Bewley Road, Middlesbrough.

The power station will consist of two 50 MW stations and requires a connection to the national grid (NG) high-pressure gas-transmission system. This will require a minimum offtake connection (MOC) to the local NG transmission pipeline.

The power stations are located in an area close to the NG high-pressure transmission line in order to minimise the length of line to the MOC.

As well as the civil design, our work involved optioneering, whole life costs, value for money and options assessment, consultations with stakeholders, coordination between design disciplines, including architects, mechanical and electrical service engineers and gas engineer designers, coordination of site services, including clash detection, project management, detailed surveys and site investigations, detailed design, design support services, including BIM/Revit modelling, and provision of drawings, studies, calculations, analysis and schedules.
