Nicholas O’Dwyer provided design review and construction services for the Waste Water Treatment Plant (WWTP) in Kutahya, Turkey under a FIDIC Yellow / Design Build Contract.

The plant was designed for 97,705m³/d (360,000 population equivalent) for Stage 1 (2030) and 120,868m³/d (435,000 population equivalent) for Stage 2 (2045). Nicholas O’Dwyer provided detailed design review and input with respect to the process, mechanical, electrical and operational aspects of the project. The project team also included civil, structural and geotechnical engineers who reviewed all designs and assisted with the construction phase of the project.

The project was completed under budget, and within 2 months of the original programmed time for completion.

Nicholas O’Dwyer also provided Capacity Building for the Kütahya municipality, technical assistance to the municipality and the project implementation unit in the form of practical training in project management and management of the WWTP during and after construction. The objective was to modernise and increase the operational performance of the Water Utility Department of the Municipality in order to ensure sustainable investments and value for money.
